About Heather Nelson
Heather Nelson has over 30 years of experience in the banking industry. Heather started her banking career with First Wisconsin National Bank in 1991. For the eight years that she worked there she had the opportunity to work many positions allowing her to better understand all areas of banking from teller, personal banker, manager to commercial lender. She then spent a year as a commercial lender at TCF Bank and then moved on to work for Legacy Bank for nine years where she held the position of Chief Lending Officer. The last fifteen years Heather has been with Spring Bank as a senior commercial lender. Commercial Lending is her main area of expertise and her true love and has had over 30 years working in that capacity. She has worked at both the larger regional banks and in smaller community banks. In her capacity as a commercial lender she has helped over 100 business start-ups and continues to enjoy the experience of watching businesses thrive. Heather continues to work with WWBIC, MEDC, SBA and other organizations in order to assist startup businesses and other businesses when needed. In January of 2023 Heather became President of Spring Bank and 2024 became President and CEO of the bank.
Prior to Heather working in the banking industry, she received her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and her master’s in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee while she was working in the banking industry. Heather has been on the board of WCREW for 10 years and acted as President for 4 years. She was also on the board of REACH for 8 years. Heather is currently on the board of the Waukesha YMCA , Waukesha County Business Alliance, and The Harbor District. She continues to be involved in many non-profit organizations in the community that focus on protecting children, the promotion of women and people of color in the workplace and access to services. She is very dedicated to her customers and is results driven.
