About Janelle Gramling
Janelle Gramling is an artist, founder, and creative business leader with over two decades of experience building and sustaining an independent design practice. In her fine art practice, she was awarded the Mary Nohl Fellowship, recognizing her contributions to contemporary sculpture and interdisciplinary work. Alongside this, she developed and scaled a handmade product line carried by boutiques internationally, and has partnered with designers and consultants to deliver custom artwork for restaurants and hotels across the United States. Her work operates at the intersection of art, production, and business strategy, with a focus on building systems that support creative integrity and long-term economic sustainability.
In 2024, Janelle founded Tooth and Nail, a community ceramics studio in Milwaukee, WI. The studio has quickly grown into a dynamic cultural hub—offering classes, memberships, and public programming that serve a diverse audience. She leads with an explicit commitment to inclusion, equity, and artist-centered values, actively working to build more just, community-rooted alternatives for creative labor.
Janelle is a mother of four teens and young adults, and her work is grounded in a deep investment in care, accessibility, and creating spaces where people can gather, create, and belong.
