WEW 2024

What a week! Women’s Entrepreneurship Week 2024 gathered over 700 Milwaukee-area women entrepreneurs for numerous opportunities for women to network with, learn from, and inspire each other.

Evening Keynote Events

Building Community

We put the spotlight on five women who foster, amplify, and celebrate diverse and inclusive Wisconsin communities.

Building Goods

Women who make some iconic Made in Milwaukee products joined us to share their years of collective wisdom. We learned how and why they started baking, brewing, publishing, printing, and sewing their unique and memorable goods.

Building Change

We heard from five women entrepreneurs tackling big issues with every pizza, book, report, performance, and bin of food scraps.

Building Art

We featured a spectacular collection of artists specializing in media of all kinds—photographs, paintings, ceramics, illustration, and jewelry—and learned about the intersection of art and entrepreneurship.

Toasting the Builders

We celebrated the end of WEW with a happy hour at woman-owned bar, of course!

Collaborating with Intention: We learned the how, what, and why of partnerships and collabs. We took a deep dive into how to form relationships with large corporations, small businesses, and government.

By the Book Part 1: We learned how to keep our books and business legal with tips about bookkeeping basics, entity formation, tax considerations, and other must-dos for business legal.

Lessons from Our First Years: We listened to a panel discussion about the journey to entrepreneurship from the perspective of women currently living it.

Build a Brand Story: We learned how to assess our brand’s story and identify tools needed to maintain consistency and authenticity. Speakers also discussed how their businesses have leveraged their brand stories to market their goods and services.

Workshops & Networking

Meet & Eat: We enjoyed breakfast, coffee, and conversation during organized networking at our kickoff event at our daytime venue, the Charles Allis Art Museum.

Goals Illustrated: Led by graphic recorder Sherrill Knezel of Meaningful Marks, we translated our goals into actionable images and made tracking them a game. We learned simple ways to implement graphic recording into business and life and left with our own 2024 Goals Bingo card.

Mentorship Meetup: Attendees met experienced entrepreneurs across industries happy to share what and how they do what they do. Plus, we connected with our WEW new and old friends to empower and elevate ourselves and our businesses.

Late Night Comedy Show: WEW’s After Party was the after party you always wanted but never knew you needed. We blew off some steam with our WEW community and enjoyed a trio of women comedians and a drink at a woman-owned bar.

Presenting Sponsor

Our 2024 Presenting Sponsor was Summit Credit Union! We were honored to partner with an organization led by a woman, Kim Sponem, and which has a demonstrated and long-standing commitment to helping women and addressing the gender pay gap. As Kim has explained, “when women succeed and have equal economic power, everyone benefits. Families, communities, businesses and economies thrive.” We at She Stands Tall couldn’t agree more!
